Sam and Pippin
Father and son, Sam and Pippin
Sam with Wembley - Wansleydale Luck of the Draw at Carofel - my last English Setter.
In October 1994 whilst visiting Lulu (Sue) Wilkinson we were shown three 14 week old pointers.  I fell in love with the orange and white dog.  In February of the following year Lulu agreed I could have him but when I saw the two litter brothers again at 7 months it was the black and white who caught my eye and so Sam came to join us and became the first Carofel pointer.

He won his first reserve ticket at 23 months and gained his title the following year to become Sh Ch Hurwyn Ironside at Carofel.  He went on to win 8 CCs and 5 Res CC's.  Two of his reserve tickets were won as a veteran, the last at Crufts from Chris Clarke when he was 8 1/2 years old.

He sired Sh Ch Trendmere Dark Star over Wychwood and 5 more CC/Res CC winning progeny from the 3 litters out of 4 that were shown , the first of which was in 1997 when Anne Lowe used him on Sh Ch Lowsmoor Lady Kaluki and, born on bonfire night, his son Pippin (Lowsmoor Silent Witness at Carofel) came to join him.  From the minute that Pip set foot over the threshold we were joined at the hip and for 14 1/2 years I was privileged to share with him that special relationship that comes along so rarely in life.

He won 2 Res CC's, the second, like his father, as a veteran and  all my current dogs are descended from him.
